NOW HIRING: Two Summer Student Opportunities – Office Assistant & Market Research Analyst

  • Office Assistant - $15/hour
  • Market Research Analyst - $20/hour

Deep Tech Canada is seeking motivated and curious summer students to support our work in innovation ecosystem development, strategic partnerships, and programming.

These positions offer an opportunity to gain hands-on experience working with a national not-for-profit organization focused on strengthening Canada’s innovation ecosystem. Students will contribute to meaningful projects related to research, outreach, partnership, and organizational coordination.

Position 1: Office Assistant

This role blends administration, and project coordination. The student will help identify and engage stakeholders across Canada’s quantum ecosystem, support sponsorship outreach, and contribute to event preparation and coordination related to Quantum Days.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and organize existing stakeholder spreadsheets and contact lists
  • Update and maintain records in CRM
  • Research potential sponsors, partners, and relevant organizations.
  • Identify key contacts and decision-makers across industry, academia, government, and startups
  • Track outreach activity, responses, and follow-up actions
  • Support the development of sponsorship materials and briefing packages
  • Provide general administrative support across the project team, including participation in planning meetings

Position 2: Market Research Analyst

The Market Research Analyst will support research and ecosystem mapping that contributes to strategic partnerships, member engagement, and future programming.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research and map provincial and national innovation ecosystems, including incubators, accelerators, research centres, government programs, and sector strengths.
  • Build and maintain internal databases of organizations, programs, and contacts
  • Conduct sector and provincial ecosystem scans
  • Prepare short briefing notes, summaries, and internal research materials
  • Support development of internal slide decks and one-pagers for leadership discussions and partnership conversations
  • Review internal processes and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Support contact research related to future partnership and membership development
  • Assist with administrative tasks as needed

Qualifications

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently, takes initiative, and can manage multiple tasks
  • Comfortable working with spreadsheets, databases, and online research tools
  • Interest in Canada’s innovation and technology ecosystem is an asset
  • Comfortable gathering information from various sources and organizing it clearly
  • Comfortable with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and other relevant software

Who Can Apply

These positions are funded through Canada Summer Jobs. Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period.
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment; International students are not eligible.
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
