Quantum Days 2026 Chair

Tuesday, July 15, 2025

We are pleased to welcome Alannah Hallas as the Chair for Quantum Days 2026.

Alannah Hallas is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of British Columbia and a Principal Investigator at the Blusson Quantum Matter Institute. Alannah completed her undergraduate studies in Chemistry at the University of Winnipeg, followed by a PhD in Physics at McMaster University, and a postdoctoral fellowship at Rice University.  Alannah’s research centers on the design and discovery of new quantum materials. Her team establishes structure-function relationships in quantum materials via characterization of their magnetic and electronic properties using neutron, muon, and x-ray based methods. One of her overarching interests is understanding the complex ways that disorder can modify the properties of quantum materials. Alannah is a Sloan Research Fellow and the co-Director of CIFAR's Quantum Materials Program.
