From Earth to Space International Conference

Innovators from across the globe gathered to address creative solutions to today’s biggest challenges.

NanoCanada brought together innovators and thought leaders from around the world to discuss how the intersection between deep technologies can accelerate solutions for a brighter future. Meaningful conversations in health, sustainability, and the future of innovation took place at the Edmonton Convention Centre. Discussions exploring the impact of convergence of emerging technologies like quantum, nanotech, biotech, and artificial intelligence and the need to collaborate across disciplines to solve our planet’s greatest challenges were had at this three‐day event.

“We heard from visionaries on the future of health, regenerative sustainability on earth and in space.” said Dr. Marie D’Iorio, NanoCanada president. “We were inspired and encouraged but left with a call to action for a brighter future. We look forward to continuing these conversations and hearing about the innovative collaborations as a result of this event.”

For Gordon Harling, President and CEO of CMC Microsystems, the event was an opportunity for Canadian innovators to develop solutions to some of the greatest challenges the world faces. “Big challenges in health and sustainable development require ingenuity, creativity, and resources to solve. CMC will provide innovators in Canada with the right tools and expertise in microelectronics, photonics, IoT & Edge AI, MEMS, and quantum to develop technology solutions, and create positive economic impacts for all Canadians.”

Society is bombarded with news about the next pandemic, global warming, and climate change on a daily basis. This event brought these discussions front and centre to showcase what we're doing as a community to tackle these challenges. We are excited to announce that plans for the next event in 2023 in Edmonton are already underway.
