Call for Applications for the 2021 WIN Rising Star Award

WIN is happy to announce the call for applications to the WIN Rising Star Award for 2021!

This award was initiated in 2018 to bring up-and-coming ‘rising stars’ in nanotechnology to UWaterloo which will lead to new partnerships and increase the international recognition of the research excellence at WIN.

The winner of this year’s Rising Star award will receive a $5,000 CAD honorarium, and the award recipient will present a featured research seminar at the Waterloo Institute for Nanotechnology at the University of Waterloo, either in person or virtually, dependent on public health guidelines and travel permissions, as part of the Research Celebration Gala held in November 2021.

To be eligible, the candidate must be a full-time faculty member at an external university or research institution, who has received their PhD in science or engineering no later than 10 years prior to this year’s award ceremony (ie: November 2011). The individual’s research interest must align with one or more of the thematic area(s) of WIN: Smart and Functional Materials; Connected Devices; Next Generation Energy Systems; and Therapeutics and Theranostics.

Submission: one single PDF file containing the following:

  • (a) One-page about the impact of applicant’s research in the chosen thematic area(s) and its alignment with UN SDGs
  • (b) Full curriculum vitae
  • (c) Name and contact details of three references.
