Deep Tech Canada in Asia

One of our priorities as an organization is developing international partnerships and opportunities for our members.

Our Executive Director, Janice Warkentin, travelled to Asia in the fall of 2023 where she met with incredible organizations and laid the groundwork for future opportunities for our members. 

While in Tokyo Japan, she explored new opportunities to foster connections between Canadian organizations and potential partners in Japan.

Janice met with several key stakeholders, including: 

• The amazing Trade Commissioner team at the Canadian Embassy in Japan, where they laid the groundwork for Deep Tech Canada’s upcoming mission in January.
• Commercial officers from the British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Ontario, and Quebec offices, all on hand to support the mission and members trade and investment activities.
• NBCI, long-time partners of Deep Tech Canada, discussing new opportunities to connect our members.  
• A wonderful visit to Toyo Seikan, one of the world's largest food packaging companies, where she discussed exciting prospects for collaboration with Canadian partners.
• The week concluded with a visit to Japan's new Institute for Quantum Life Science, underscoring the incredible potential for innovation and international collaboration.

Janice then travelled to Singapore, where she attended a deep tech conference, Singapore Week of Innovation and Technology, and met with the Canadian Trade Commissioner team to discuss some exciting plans for 2024!  

While in Seoul, Korea Janice was invited to present an overview of the quantum landscape in Canada and the opportunities to partner with Canadian companies at the Korea Quantum Industry Leaders Forum.
