Janice Warkentin Steeves is the President and CEO of Deep Tech Canada, a national non-profit organization that connects Canada’s emerging technology sectors through ecosystem building, global partnerships, and strategic programming. Since 2015, she has played a central role in shaping the organization and expanding its national and international impact.
With more than 20 years of experience in policy, governance, communications, and ecosystem development, Janice leads a wide range of initiatives—from trade missions and strategic partnerships to training programs, events, and innovation challenges. Her work bridges industry, government, and academia, helping Canadian innovators scale and compete on the global stage.
In addition to her work at Deep Tech Canada, Janice holds a leadership role within an International Standards Organization (ISO) committee and serves on several boards dedicated to advancing innovation, collaboration, and impact. Outside of work, she finds inspiration through travel, gardening, and meaningful conversations that challenge perspectives and spark connection.
Isabelle joined Deep Tech Canada in December 2020. She started her career working for the RCMP Behavioral Sciences Branch. She later moved to the National Research Council, where she met her future Deep Tech Canada family and spent the next 8 years working for various government organizations. At Deep Tech Canada, she plays a pivotal role in overseeing and orchestrating our many programs, projects and events; she also serves as Corporate Board Secretary.
Isabelle holds a bachelor’s degree in International Development and Anthropology from the University of New Brunswick. Outside of work she enjoys travelling, hiking, being out in nature and spoiling her two doodles, Sissi and Khaleesi.

Melissa Bouvier is a champion of Canada’s deep tech ecosystem, with a background that bridges science, research, and partnerships. Over her career, she has worked as a researcher, project manager, and ecosystem builder, helping translate scientific breakthroughs into real-world opportunities for deep tech companies.
As Innovation Partnerships Director at Deep Tech Canada, she works with Canadian and international partners to unlock opportunities for deep tech innovators and strengthen the national innovation landscape. Her efforts focus on fostering collaborations that accelerate commercialization, build capacity, and position Canada as a global leader in deep tech.
Melissa holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry and Biology from the University of Alberta. Outside of work, she enjoys reading, knitting, camping, traveling, and spending time with her two dogs, Charlie and Benji.
Jackie joined Deep Tech Canada as a Project Administrator at the beginning of 2023. She is a seasoned professional who served as a Chief of Staff in the federal government for over 15 years. Jackie has managed the day-to-day operations of multiple projects, ensuring that they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. She is an exceptional communicator and relationship builder with proven ability to drive results and innovative solutions.
Jackie is driven by organization. She approaches all projects with a “how can we make this work” attitude. At Deep Tech Canada, she supports the executive team with their vision and mission of facilitating partnerships and collaborations by creating a network that helps members reach their full potential.
Jackie’s personal passions include travel, yoga, watching her two boys play sports, and all things coffee.
